Exterior Detailing
Pressure Wash (Power Wash): So what's the first step to getting your car washed or detailed with our mobile services? Pressure Washing! Using a high powered stream of deionized water via an electric motor, pressure washing involves spraying the front, back, and sides of your vehicle so as to initially remove large debris like pine needles, dirt, mud, and pollen. Every crack, nook, and cranny is hit so that 95% of loose contaminants are removed. Trouble areas where there is visible chipping of paint are either skipped or briefly power washed so as to not induce further paint removal. Pressure washing can take about 5-10 minutes depending on the size and condition of the vehicle. Once pressure washing is complete, the next step is using a degreaser.  Our friends at Pressure Washing Midland TX are perfect when it comes to tips on how to handle a pressure washer

Degreaser Rinse: After the pressure washing step, harder to remove debris may still remain on the outside of the vehicles. These include bird droppings, tar, adhesive, and bug guts. A degreaser is sprayed on these areas, which loosens them up. One downside of degreasers is that they can remove any sealants, waxes, or coatings on the exterior paint of the vehicle. That is why in further steps, it's best to reapply any of these if requested. To remove the degreaser and the loosened material, another power wash is given. The next step is the shampooing step.

Shampooing: The purpose of the shampooing step is to remove any final loose material and to give a general sterilization of the outside of the vehicle. A foam cannon, which is special attachment that sprays a layer of foam all over the vehicle using an electric motor, lathers the vehicle from top to bottom and allows the soap to dwell on the vehicle for a minute. Then a more hands on approach is used using the two bucket method: one bucket is the wash bucket while the other is the rinse bucket. A sponge, mitts, or hand towel is used in conjunction with the buckets to thoroughly clean the exterior paint of the car, truck, or RV. A second pressure wash is then given to remove the soap and remaining contaminants.

Drying: The drying step is one of THE most overlooked steps throughout the detailing process. This is the step where swirl marks, water marks, and webs can appear if not done correctly. To avoid these from occurring and prolonging / inhibiting further steps down the line, it is first imperative to use a sheeting methods to remove 95% of the water after the previous pressure washing step. Sheeting involves using a continuous stream of water that collects and removes a vast majority of water droplets from the exterior paint of the vehicle. The next step is to use a blower to remove droplets that maybe present on edges like on nuts, bolts, mirrors, and gaps in panels. The final step is the use of a drying towel to remove the final bits of water from the vehicle.

Claying: Claying is the step in which small micro contaminants are removed from the clear coat of the exterior paint of the vehicle. Using a clay bar and appropriate lubricant, the clay gently picks up and removes these fine particulates. A good amount of lubricant will be used in conjunction with plenty of clay material so that the claying itself does not induce scratching.

Polishing: Polishing involves the removal of any swirl, water marks, or webs on the clear coat of  the vehicle. A polish and buffer are used to buffed out and gently remove these imperfections. This adds  a beautiful shine and mirror like quality to your vehicles paints!

Sealant: Sealants are used guard your vehicles exterior paint from the environment for up to 3 to 6 months. The sealant attaches to your vehicles outer coating and creates a barrier that prevents debris from attaching to your vehicle's coat. This allows you the ability to maintain your vehicle and it's shine for longer periods of time. It also adds more depth and gloss to our car, truck, or RV's paint.

Waxing: Waxing adds even more durability to the exterior paint of your vehicle. Waxing involves the beading up of water so that water marks aren't left after rain or hail contacts your car, truck, or RV. It will only last 6 to 8 weeks, but will give the exterior coat a smooth glide feel and will be turning heads as it shines radiantly for all to see!

Wheel and Tire: Wheel and tire care is a MUST! No one wants to see your tires covered in dirt, grime, and dust. Tires will be given general care from the previous steps such as shampooing and pressure washing, but they will also be given a bit more degreaser to loosen up the gunk and remove it. A special bristle brush is used to to clean the spokes of the tires. Once the tires have received and thorough cleaning, a general tire dressing is added to give them their original showroom quality blackness.

Exterior Trim Care: Another overlooked part of detailing is the exterior trim components. These are the plastic linings that cover or surround different parts of the vehicle, such as the front and back bumpers. These are also cleaned during the initial washing steps. More specifically, a generous amount of dressing is added to the exterior trim to rejuvenate it to it original sheen on the showroom floor!

Window Cleaning: Having clean windows is essential more many obvious reasons. Windows with bird droppings, or smoke residue, or condensation can make it more difficult to see out the window while driving. The previous washing steps remove a fast majority of these obstructions. Ammonium free glass cleaner is best used to removed any remaining hard contaminants. The windows are then clayed to remove any small particulates. Then as a final step, a layer of wax is added for extra durability.

Interior Detailing

Carpet Cleaning: A full detail usually involves getting the carpets and mats of your vehicle washed and cleaned. Your carpets and mats see the worse when it comes to stains and dirt, and they can also leave a horrible smell if not maintained. To clean these, generally a vacuum is used to remove most of the large debris and then a fabric cleaner is used and scrubbed so that any stains that are present are removed. Our friends at Kamloops Car Detailing are masterful when it comes to carpet cleaning! Check them out if you ever travel around their shop in British Columbia.

Seat Cleaning: What's the first thing a passenger or guest sees when entering your car? The seat they are about to sit on. That is why maintaining the cleanliness of your seat is a must. Again, a vacuum and fabric cleaner are used to remove most crumbs and stains on or in the seat. If the seats are made of leather, a leather softener is applied so as to keep them flexible and reduce drying out.

Interior Trim: our The last thing that is taken care of is the interior trim. These include cleaning your dashboard, steering wheel, consoles, and side panels. A cleaner and protectant are applied so as to add protection against UV damage and restore them back to their original color and sine.

Ceramic Coating

What is Ceramic Coating?

Ceramic Coating is a liquid polymer that is applied to the exterior of your vehicle's paint and chemically bonds with it. It's designed to give a longer lasting edge of durability for your vehicle against the daily abuse it sees from the sun, dirt, winds, and rain than a traditional wax; ceramic coatings can last for many years while waxes only last a few months. Ceramic coating is also a very cost effective investment to your vehicle and reduces the long term costs of maintaining the health of it's paint.

Paint Correction

What is Paint Correction / Paint Repair?

Paint correction involves repairing damage caused to the actual paint of the vehicle such as key scratches or other sharp objects scraping the paint off and exposing bare metal. The first step in repairing, different types of sand paper is used on the damaged area and surrounding areas. This allows paint, primers, and the clear coat to adhere to the vehicle and allow blending of the new paint to the original paint. After sanding, many layers of primer are applied which provides a smooth surface for the paint to stick to and be smoothed out. A layer of paint is then added on, once the primer has dried, that is appropriate to the general color of the vehicle. After the paint dries, layers of clear coat are then added on top. Minor sanding is don’t to have a final smooth finish. Once this new section of paint has been added, then the old and new paint is smoothed together to produce an almost seamless merger.
